Through one of the most wonderful and ancient beech forest of the Appennino for reaching the ridges of the Orsigna Valley’s Mountains, so loved by the writer Tiziano Terzani. Breath-taking landscapes from the Tirreno sea to the Adriatic one, on the crest of one of the wildest and most suggestive ridges of the whole Appennino Tosco-Emiliano, among rare flowerings and alpine surroundings populated by marmots, until the top of Gennaio Mountain (1814 on the sea level).

 

Meeting: h 7:30 a.m. – in Volterra (PI) in Piazza Martiri della Libertà;    h 8:00 a.m. – Locality “La Rosa”, SR439;   h 8:45 a.m. – Altopascio, at the entrance motorway A11

Distance: about 8 km

Difference in height: about 600 m
